In 1962, during the Indo-China war, the Tawang sector in the NEFA region became a primary target for Chinese forces. Positioned on the frontlines were only 120 Indian soldiers, among whom was Subedar Joginder Singh, the commander of the 4th Sikh Regiment. His tales of courage were deeply etched in the hearts of every soldier.

When the Chinese army launched a massive assault, Joginder Singh took command and held the position with his men. The air was filled with the deafening roar of Chinese artillery and relentless gunfire. Despite limited ammunition, the Indian soldiers stood unwavering, their spirit indomitable. Addressing his troops, Joginder Singh declared, "We will fight to our last breath, no matter the outcome."

The Chinese launched three waves of attacks, but each time, they were repelled by the sheer bravery of the Indian soldiers. Subedar Joginder Singh sustained a bullet wound to his leg but refused to leave the battlefield. When the ammunition ran out, he led his men in hand-to-hand combat using bayonets and bare hands. The Chinese forces suffered heavy casualties.

Eventually, Subedar Joginder Singh was captured by the Chinese army, but his valor left even his captors in awe. It is said that despite being a prisoner, he made the ultimate sacrifice to protect his comrades. For his extraordinary bravery and selflessness, Subedar Joginder Singh was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.

This story of Subedar Joginder Singh is a testament to courage, sacrifice, and duty. His martyrdom fills every Indian heart with pride.

"Salute to such brave sons of India. Jai Hind."
