In nineteen forty-seven, Pakistan-backed tribal invaders attempted to seize the Srinagar airfield. This airfield was a lifeline for India. The responsibility for its defense was entrusted to Major Somnath Sharma, who went to battle despite a severe injury to his hand.

During the battle, the Indian Army faced a critical shortage of ammunition. Amidst this, a secret message caused an uproar. It revealed that a traitor was hiding within the unit. Major Sharma managed the situation and confronted both the enemies and the traitor.

After ensuring the safety of his soldiers, he single-handedly forced the enemies to retreat. However, he attained martyrdom in the process.

Posthumously, he was awarded India’s first Param Vir Chakra. The traitor was captured, but how Major Sharma sensed his presence remains a mystery to this day.
